in terms of the zerg and protoss games, blizzard already said they are treating them like expansions.  So i wouldn't say they would be changing multiplayer up drastically from what it is now and would probably not be necessary to buy them if you wanted only to play multiplayer.  But you never know, brood war for the original was probably the best expansion ever released for a game,  so it's a strong possibility that one of these expansions will be game changing that you have to buy it as well.

Still trying to decide whether or not to buy it.  I've heard a lot of mixed things, especially regarding the rather nazi-ish implementation of the new battlenet.  The game is being released in 3 segments from what I understand, but does the first release have the complete multiplayer?  Or will the other 2 segments add onto that as well?  I really don't feel like buying 3 games.

not sure if you got this or not yet Zid but each person gets two 10 day free trials. you should at least do that.
